Thanks for the Birthday wish and cudos on the bike, wasn't expectin'
that! To answer the question on the front wheel it's just a aftermarket
rim from BKRider. To be honest with all of you that wheel is not powder
coated. I'm embarrassed to say it's painted. As I have mentioned
before I'm retired and like they say on a "fixed income" so powder
coated parts are out of my range. I'm doing good just to have a
scooter. So after that sob story this is how I paint them. It takes
about 4 hrs. to sand the rim itself, I use 150 grit sandpaper and
wet sand them, then mask each spoke and nipple. I've already had
the tire mounted and balanced and have the tire shop break the
tire from the bead. I mask the complete tire and mask the rest of
the spokes and hub. Everything is covered but the rim. I then prime
the rim and after that I use Duplicolor rattle can engine paint.
I do about four coats. Pretty sad huh? Amazingly I did the 16" wheel
on there about six months ago and it stood very well.
So that's my story and I'm stickin" to it. Thanks guys for the kind
words on the bike. Oh, by the way the whole bike is rattled-canned!
Now you guys can have a real good laugh, Smoke & mirrors!! Pops.
BB06FLHX, sorry I forgot about the windshield. That is a Windvest
shield that I cut to fit the curvature inside the apes and then
used some 1 1/4" Kuryakn clamps to mount it on the handlebars.
Works surprisingly well!
Pops no need to apologize. I just finished rattle can (PlastiDip) both my rims. Used regular rattle can on the rotors, and pulley. Figure if I like the look I'll get it powdered later.
I like the idea of the windshield. Have one for the Deluxe and haven't tried to see if it will fit with the new apes.
BB06FLHX, I agree, good way to see if you like it, especially in view
of the fact you have break the rim down, get it PC'd then put it
back together then true it.
I'll take a close up pic of the brackets and how I mounted mounted
the windshield and post it. See what you think.
BB06FLHX, here's the windshield pics. Some folks might like to look
through the windshield but prefer to look over the top that's why
it's cut that low.
By the way I really like the look of your bike, thought I might add
some color to my bike to break up all that black.Bad a$$ bike you
have Bro!!
