I'm getting a little present for myself with my tax refund. I plan on picking up the V&H Big Radius exhaust for my 2009 Softail Custom and just had a quick question. I don't have a Stage 1 intake yet but plan on getting one later. Will there be any issue running the exhaust on my stock setup? I do plan on getting it tuned when I get a service, but I was wondering if there would be any issue running it before then.
I have an 03' fxst and when i did the big radius I also waited to have it jetted and I didnt have any problems or issues with mine. I will say that once it is jetted your going to notice a difference. Your going to love the sound of the pipes! Enjoy!
My dealer told me that I would need a tune with new exhaust. I told him I had always heard that it wasn't needed unless I also changed air intake. He replied that is true for Screamin Eagle slip ons, but if I changed the entire exhaust I would need a tune.
I got straight shots and am in the middle of install now. Pipes are off but I am doing some other things before putting the new ones on. I bought the pipes, A/C & PCV from Fuel Moto here on the site. I knew I was going to buy it all anyway, and saved a little money buying as a package.
Is there really any difficulty in putting a PCV on? Do I need the AutoTune kit, or can I just use the PCV and put on a map? Im sure someone out there has a good map for the Big Radius exhaust on an otherwise stock setup.
I haven't installed it yet, but it seems pretty simple. I think the toughest part will be getting it all to fit under the seat, but I've been told that it can be done.
I'm no expert on fuel management systesm. I just researched and found the best on for me, for the money I wanted to spend. I did not get auto-tune.
Fuel Moto has a thread in the sponsoring vendors forum. That may be the best place for your questions. They seem to monitor it closely and then they can answer you directly. If you buy it from them it will come loaded with what ever map you request.
