Lately, I've tried to stay below my old lady's radar on mods, but the stock handle bar has grown a little too old for my taste. I truly want to try out a mini ape of some sorts, but don't know where to start since there are too many of them out there. I understand that, with the mini, I will be able to reuse my stock cables/wires (money is tight when it comes to mods ). It must, as stock, be 1.25" from end to end (want to be able to reuse the stock clamps) and the width is NOT to exceed 32" (for the ease of split...nah, 'sharing' narrow lanes on streets/freeways). Just a shot in the dark, but if anyone knows of one, please point it out. A web site is also a good start. Much appreciated.
Pat.
I think Carlini is your best bet for fatty (1.25") bars all the way through.
I ended up going with J&P 14" bars but they are 1" knurled at the base.
And I had to use Burly cable extensions.
Also, I had to get new rubber on both wheels. I went with the Michelin Commander IIs and dyna beads. While I had the wheels off I figured I might as well switch my exhaust out to a full system since I had to pull the Rush slip ons to get the rear wheel off. I've ordered the V&H sideshots 3 times now. The first 2 times the orders were refunded because they didn't carry the item but allowed me to order online anyways. So, if anyone knows of any sure bet places that have the sideshots I'd appreciate it. I've got one order in now through Jake Wilson, so we'll see if it holds.
I'm also switching out my primary and points covers and changing all the fluids and brake pads while it's "winter" season. And I use that term loosely in FL.
yeah I don't have any issues finding shortshots. I'm looking for sideshots.
Jack Wilson sent a shipping notification for my order. so, whatever exhaust they are shipping should be here Friday. Hopefully it's the right set of sideshots for a softtail.
