Gents,
Tires are shot. Can find direct replacement for the 150 rear. Many to choose from. Nobody can cross-reference the front MT90 B16. Looked all over the tire can't find any size indications. Anybody know the commonly used size for the MT90? I'm looking hard at the Metzeler ME880's. They seem to be a favorite. Does this forum agree? They are a bit pricey at $150 for the rear. What is a fair price to pay for mounting and balancing?
I put Metzeler ME880s on my Night Train, and I will never go back to Dunlops. The Metzeler tires are simply FANTASTIC!!
I got my tires from Ron Ayers. They have great prices and cheap shipping in the USA ($10.00/tire, but I paid more for shipping up here. I still saved well over 100 bucks on what I would have paid had I bought them here). The tire sizes I got were 150/80HB16 Rear ($107.00US) and 90/90H-21 ($95.00US) Front.
Clammy......when you say that Metzeler's are "FANTASTIC" what exactly makes them fantastic, just out of curiosity?
Do they ride smoother? Better traction? Look better? Last longer?
Better traction in the rain, they don't follow ruts in the road, they corner like butter. I don't know about wear yet - I just put them on a couple of weeks ago, and only have about 3000 miles on them so far. The thing that really sold me was the cornering: it's effortless... and that really got driven home when I rode the Tail Of The Dragon.
