Default Just traded up for a New 09 Crossbones...Need Help on Accessories.

So I went to the Harley Dealership to get some pipes put on my 1200 Sportster, and ended up trading it in for a Brand New 2009 Crossbones. Absolutely love it. Here's a list of the stuff I want to do to it in the really near future, could use some input.

-Saddlebags
I'm looking at the HD ones made for the crossbones...

-Sissy Bar and passenger seat
I want to get the removal Sissy Bar that is made for the crossbones and the seat pad as well (as I want to keep the stock spring seat). I plan on detatching the sissy bar and the seat when riding solo, and putting it on when the wife want to ride or I am going on a long trip and need to attach baggage and tent, etc. Question is, I have heard the the seat scratches the paint, is this true or will I be fine? Also, can I put the footpegs on with the stock exhaust?

-Exhaust
I really like the stock exhaust look, however I would like a louder, more aggressive, deeper sound. Is there anyway to achieve this, any exhaust that looks similar to the stock exhaust, or if not that looks really good on the crossbones?

Thanks for all your help! I've been dreaming of this bike when I was in Iraq and finally got it! I'm probably the happiest vet out there, but now it's time to modify to fit my personal needs!
Thanks Again!
-Aaron

the foot pegs go right on with no problem. As for the exhaust you could go with Rush slip ons or maybe v & h big shot staggered or longs. I think the longs might look closer to stock

Make the bike yours, I can't comment on the bags or sissy bar, but if you like the stock exhaust look, go with a set of slip-ons.

The slip ons will still add a hell of a sound?

The sound will vary with each type of slip on exhaust, but anything has to sound better than the stock. I agree though if you like the looks of the stock exhaust get some slip-ons. Vance and Hines has some new twin slash 3" slip-ons that look pretty close to stock.

I had a similar story, went to the dealership to buy a pair of gloves for summer and walked out with a Crossbones after trading the Road King.

Here's my advice, the more you own the XB the more you seem to want to change. Spend a little time with it in stock format and check out all the different directions taken by XB owners on this forum before you start buying stuff - you will only end up replacing it several times.

For example you can go:
1) old school bobber - upsweep samson pipes, RSD tracker fender and apes, swingarm bag
2) XB Hot Rod - badlands solo seat, V&H curbed short shots, SE Stage 2 upgrade, Fatboy shortened rear fender, flat bar
3) nostalgia trip - full fatboy rear fender swap, vintage bars, 1925 HD sprung solo seat, true dual exhausts, saddleebags

These are just a few examples. Make sure you now where you are ultimately heading before you get going and take your time to sort out what's going to suit you best. Then spend an enormous amount of money and time getting there.

I thought the stock exhaust on my X-bones sounded like the car from the Jetsons

That has got to be the best analogy I've heard yet regarding a stock Harley sound.

Yes, slip-ons will help out a lot. There are several out there, some that are straight, slashed, fishtail....even the SE slip ons sound 10x better than stock
