Default Picked up my new Heritage today....

I picked up my '07 Heritage today, Black Cherry Pearl/Pewter Pearl (pictures tomorrow) and am comparing a few things to my '03 Dyna Low Rider.

The engine is very noisy (not exhaust), is this normal for a TC96B, or is it because the exhaust is so much quieter than the SE II's I had on the Dyna?

I have read about others with a whine in 5th gear and I have it as well, I guess it's normal.

I really miss the tach! Trying to break it in, it seems like I'm shifting a lot more than I use to. Again, maybe because the pipes are so much quieter that I'm shifting earlier than normal.

I see no difference in ride or vibration (other than the smooth idle).

Head buffeting at highway speeds is MUCH reduced from the Dyna with the HD QD windshield.

6th gear is really nice at highway speeds.

The stock mufflers don't sound too bad.

I keep reaching for the enrichener **** when I start it

Oh, yeah, I really like it so far.

I wonder if anyone else sees the same things.

Jim

Congrats on the new ride mate. Don't worry the TC88 is a loud engine when you have standard mufflers on it. You can hear every noise from the valve gear to the chain noise of the balance shafts.

I wonder how long it is before the EPA crack down on the noise of the HD air cooled V Twin engine and suggest the MoCo should start looking at water cooled V-Rod type engines??...... I dread the thought!!

Actually, the Moco was allowed to increase the noise level of the '07 exhaust because they reduced the noise level from the TC96 engines.
Having noted that...I'm sure the TC96's still make some noise.

I went from a Sporty to my Heritage and i was amzed at how much quieter the TC88 was than the Sporty motor.

I have V&H on my '04 since I drove it out of the dealer. One day I pulled into a closed bank garage and heard noises I had never heard before. Put my ear to the motor and the primary. Loud pipes cover up normal motor noise. I think the solution is simple - get pipes, make some noise.

Hey j2dawson, I've heard some rumors that the bags, windshield and backrest on the new 07 Heritage bikes are all detachable. Is that true?

If they are, I haven't seen it yet. They do include some plastic covers for the bolts so you can unscrew the bag nuts and take them off, but they're not easily detachable. The back rest sure isn't the detachable kind like I had on my Dyna if they're detachable. This is my first Softtail so maybe I'd better check more closely.

The weather here is crappy so I can't get a better picture yet.
