I purchased the spike air intake filter from d2moto (http://www.d2moto.com/Harley-EFI-Chr...002-chrome.htm) and am not really impressed with the quality of it. I am thinking of returning it, before I did can anyone comment if this air filter is any bettor or any worse than the more expensive ones. Thanks

I own one and if you like this style of air cleaner, they're not bad for the money, especially if you got it at one of their 40% off sales. Mine was $108 shipped. Go to D&M Custom Cycles to see what these cost there - I think they're in excess of $500. I can't comment on the quality and I believe they are made in the USA, but they can't be 5 times better than the $108 one I got from D2Moto.
I just put mine on last fall so I don't have a lot of ride time on it but my initial impression/question is, does this filter restrict the air flow? The surface area of the filter itself appears to be less than the SE filter. The exposed portions of the filter are certainly less than even the stock set up. My MPG has gone down to 30 and the bike smells like it's running rich (carb'd bike), although the spark plugs look fine.
I will say it's a mean looking air cleaner. For comparison, the next time D2Moto has a 40% off sale, I'm getting the K&N filter setup that fits my SE backing plate and stock football cover and see if my performance and MPG goes up.
Bottom line, if you like the style and don't want to spend an arm and a leg, keep it.
Like gforrest2 said, it did seem to run a little richer. I just made a few changes to the settings on my Power Commander and all seems to be fine now. I also paid less than $125.00, I have found no flaws in my unit. I might also add I have paid twice as much for some chrome that couldn't hold a candle to the air cleaner quality. Just my $.02 worth.
