The bike looks awesome! I also like the primary - is it a stock unit cut out? Are the straight pipes that loud that the ear plugs hangin from the bars are necassary?

The pipes are loud, but the sound is mostly behind the rider. Loud pipes save lives? lotsa folks disagree 'cause cagers have their sounds on and windows up, and can't hera anything anyway. But I've found out the deer can hear me coming! And that's really important where I live.
The primary is the stock unit that I took a cutting wheel and grinder to. I didn't cut it out as much as a couple people wanted. I left a good section at the rear to protect THE MAMA's feet. With the passenger pegs I have installed, the passenger's feet get pretty close to the clutch drum area. I didn't expose the engine sprocket for my protection. I rode a few open primary bikes in the '70s, some with chain drives, and had a lotta pant legs shredded!

Hey Skip, Why do you paint with rattle cans. I assume you have a small compressor, a small gun is cheap, and if you paint with a gun it is cheaper, more efficient, and you get a better job than you do with cans.
What's the deal with the red on the rims? Please don't tell me that is rattle can.
Is no front fender legal?
Did you ever consider putting a small bend in the shift bar? I think it would look even better than it does now.
Once again, nice build!

Riding around here is hard on paint. The roads are pretty much OK, but often a coat of road tar & gravel is laid down to help with wet traction. They're noisy, and the stones eat paint jobs. Plus I get to follow a lotta log trucks, dodging what they toss off, and flip up off the road. I can paint my tanks and fender for about $12 - $16. Cheaper than a compressor!
Someday, .....What type of bend are you talking about? I had a piece of thick stainless bar that I'd set aside to make a lever from. The plan was to heat and twist it several times, and bend it slightly in a forward direction. Someone stole all my scrap metal stash, including a couple hundred pounds of various sizes of stainless flat, round, and sheet.
I've made several shift levers for this bike. The earlier ones were made with a couple pieces and the vibration usually broke 'em at the welds. This one is one piece, made outta cheap flat bar. The holes are drilled into it to change the weight so that any vibration happens at a point above where I usually ride. Without the holes it vibrated at 50 - 60 mph. With the holes the vibration happens at about 85 mph. It's bent below the pivot for an offset to align with the rod. It's bent out away from the tank just above the pivot for some clearance. To bend it forward or back would probably require a notch to be cut, the lever bent, then welded back together.
Thanks for the compliment, Scout.

As far as the compressor and gun, yeah it would cost a few hundred to get setup, but a standard colour auto paint has become so cheap, that if you painted a truck, and the bike once or twice it would pay for itself. But, I do understand that $12.00 for a quick repair does sound good in the short term.
