Default Arms getting numb

HELP! I need to figure out what to do about my arms getting a tingly feeling (not numb) close to an hour of ridding. My bars are stock (softail springer) and my hands are +/- 5 inches below my shoulder when I have them on the grips. I keep reading on how people are going to apes (short or tall) for comfort. I know we are all different, but what should be the ideal arm position? Shoulder level with the grips? Higher? Lower?
I am 5’-11” about 190#s.
All comments are welcomed!

Personally id see a Dr. Thats what started happening to me slowly over a period of time. Turned out i had 3 collapsed disks in my neck pinching my nerves.
As for good position, if you can run your arm straight in line with your shoulders while seated, thats ideal.

+1 on seeing the Doc. I have degenerative disc and get allot of numbness in my hands and wrists along with weakness in my thighs. It just kind of pops up and slowly get worse.

I was having the same issue with my Dyna and when I got my Heritage with apes, it helped. But what really helped was going to a chiropractor. My issues weren;t as severe as Semi & Iron's but a few consecutive treatments and now monthly adjustments with the chiro and I don't get the numbness anymore.

Thanks for the feedback...

Maybe numb is not the correct word? However, my arms do get a tingly feeling and goes away a few minutes after I put them down.. I am very active, and this condition only happens when I ride..

I had a problem with my hands going numb also. I think it had something to do with the pull back on my stock handle bars as I believe it had to do with the position of my wrist. I have since swapped handles bars and have not had a problem since.

You should also have some bend in your elbow. allows the blood to flow better. It's like standing with knees locked for along time, your feet will start to tingle

Try relaxing your grip a bit as well. I learned that relaxing my grip when riding significantly reduced any tingling sensations and arm pump(I do ride a motard as well). Seeing a doc if the condition doesn't abate is also wise.

Or if you have carpel Tunnel. Which at the young age of 36, I have, from working in a office too long. My hands go numb constantly, I just deal with it though.
