Yeah, It is pretty easy to make a spanner for the shocks. I made one out of a couple of strips of steel, bolted together on one end, and bolts in both strips at the other end to go in the holes. Works well, and is adjustable as far as width of the holes go. Kind of a "V" looking wrench about 10" long.

One thing I forgot to mention, is that on the older Softails, such as my 99, the adjustment is to the rear of the shock. Not sure why they changed, but I have seen some of the later ones that were forward. I think they also went to a different mounting method on the front. The older ones look like they could go on either way.

I used a spanner wrench from a grinder i used to have and cut the ears off and welded them to fit. too bad I like your idea better. I could use it for other things too because its adjustable.

My had "8" threads showing. I moved it to 3 showing because I'm calorically challenged.

Was going to adjust mine today and for the life of me, I could not get the jam nut to break free. My NT has a lowering kit on it, so I was hoping that the jam nuts hadn't been loctited. Not sure. Thinking I will take it to the stealer tomorrow and have them break them free and adjust the sucker. Tired of bottoming out on bigger bumps. And forget about taking the wife for a ride!

The factory sets the preload to the softest setting, ie 4 threads will be showing.

I'll definitely have to check it out... as my username might imply, I own a Fat Boy, and I am a Fat Boy! Seems like I might be bottoming it out.
