You may already have decided by now since your question is now 3 months old. But my 2 cents worth are: go for the Duece.

I have a 2002 Duece and whenever I stop, even after all these years someone always comes over and comments on what a pretty bike that is, what is it?

There was the semi disparaging comment above about something wrong because they stopped making it. Well, it was a Willie G. pet project that bowled everyone over when it was first released. It wasn't meant to be a long run model.

However you will unfortunately see quite often the 'except the FXSTD...'. Everything except the frame and motor are unique to the Duece.

I recently tried to get a roll-pack for the 'unique' luggage rack. Forget about it nothing is now manufactured for it that is a direct fit. There is always E-Bay.

I also have a 2002 Fat Boy. The ride between the two is totally different. The Fat Boy is a Phat ride and the Duece is a 'where are those twisties and OMG was I really go that fast?'

The front end rake gives it a semi chopper look and an aggressive ride. Aggressive is by no means an uncomfortable ride, just a let's get moving, you guys are wussy ride.

I have 27k on mine and the primary chain is just now getting to where I will need to take some slack out of the primary chain but the tensioner is barely worn. I believe in removing the entire primary cover to adjust because the effort otherwise is almost not worth it and increases the possibility of a screw up.

My Duece is carb and the Fat Boy is injected. It makes a difference in the out of the driveway time. Warm up makes the first few miles more enjoyable. But it sounds badass ideling, talk about old school.

In short, I say it is a bucket list bike, go for it.
