I have a friend who bought his 90 Softail new in 1990. He replaced his seat with a Mustang that has a metal backing. he has had some prostate discomfort recently. Wondering if any one welse has experienced this? and if anybody knows about a more prostate friendly seat for his bikle? Thanks in advance for any replies.
Dave in New mexico.
P.S. he is not bar to bar he has logged over a quarter of a million miles since buying his evo.
I don't think that prostate problems would have anything to do with riding or the type of seat you have. I'm a prostate cancer surviver, agent orange related from Vietnam, been through surgery and it never had any effect on my riding. Couldn't ride for five or six weeks after the surgery but that's all. Maybe he has another condition that this relates too.
I am no doctor, but he might try looking into the Pudendal nerve. I think that is what I have experienced with long rides. They say there are special seats for bicycles for this specific problem. (I know that does not help for motorcycles, maybe a gel pad)
He can look it up on the Internet by just typing it in a search. See if any of the symptoms are the same. The Doc gave me something for it and it seemed to help. Sorry I don't remember what it was.
