Default Why so hot???

Hubby took my Fatboy to Sturgis this year (his heritage is in the shop, on trade), and complained about being a lot hotter this time than what he has experienced on his bike in the past. I have never taken any other bike on a long trip so, I thought this was normal (I have always had a tough time with the heat)...I mean from the bike itself. Slow traffic is a killer. Heat eminates from my bike.

Has anybody else, ever noticed the difference in heat between riding a Fatboy and another model? Any explanation for this?

probably had to do with the weather. It's been hotter this summer. engine location and pipe location aren't all that different between the two. I would think they would be similar.

for retty cheap you can get a oil temp dipstick... i use mine to keep track (usually runs 180-220ish) and if you read the manual it describes the engines heat control- itll slow rpms at certain temperatures and if your not reaching that point its probably normal.. do you have stock heat shields on the exhaust?

I have a 93 Fatboy and have been using the usual each oil change. I started using Amsoil in my trucks and I like it. So I am thinking of going with Amsoil and their filter on my next oil change. And the trans too. I have been reading about the others guys using Amsoil and so far they have been happy.
