Default Saddlebag Question!

I have got a detachable sissybar and backrest, now how or can, I put on saddlebags with that allready on there? I am thinking that the bolts for the saddlebags don't line up with the ones for the sissybar. If someone could help explain this to me, I would really appreciate it. I f anybody has allready got this on theres if there is a way, could you please take a picture of it and show me. Pictures really help me understand more!!! Thank you.

I have a Deluxe but I put the bags on with the removable tour-pak which is the same as the setup for the removable sissy bar on my bike. Just about all of the bags and brackets can accomodate the hardware the removable sissy bar.

I use easy brackets but I'm sure the other brackets can do it also. you can see the spacers for the detachable hardware below.

I have the same exact set up, but have the stock pipes. The saddle bags clears the pipe when empty, but occassionally touches the pipe when full. Has not been a problem in 6470 miles over the summer.

I put Fatboy saddlebags on my Standard and just bolted them to the fender struts using slightly longer bolts. However, I don't have a detachable sissy bar though.

I'm having problems with the left axle nut hitting the bottom of the bag (I have large bags). Hubby is in the process of adding some more support to the back of the bag which will get away from the nut.

If you have stock pipes that don't allow deep bags you can probably get away with no support.

I've got the rigid leather saddlebags and the detachable sissybar harware on my FLSTI - both installed by the dealer. I believe everything lined up without any problems. I'll take a look at later and let you know what I see!

Mine do this too and have actually worn a bit of chrome off the new bolt covers!

Smittyp83,

If you could, would you take a picture of where the sissy bar and bags are mounted too. I am thinking that the saddlebags use different bolt holes than the sissy bar does. If you could remove the sissybar and take a pic that would be great, thank you very much.
