If I'm reading the original post correctly, the O.P. is looking for a powdercoat that has a chrome finish... Correct? IE: He'd like to powdercoat his aluminum wheels to look like chrome...
If so... I'll be following this thread.
Right. From what I've read Its not as shinny as chrome. And I've read that if you chrome aluminum it tends to peal after a while. Keeping these aluminum wheels clean is a pain so I'm looking for options.
Have them powder coated silver not chrome. They already are silver so appearance wise it will be about the same as now but easier to clean. Or watch for someone getting rid of their chrome ones.
There is a newer process available that is not powdercoat but an actual 3 part spray on system that can be applied over any material. I have a set of HD fuel tank emblems I had done but it was not as shiny as real chrome. The painter I used has won SEMA awards, been on TV, etc so i felt comfortable with him. Thats not a bad idea. But, would getting my wheels powder coated be much cheaper than buying the chrome Fatboy wheels?
There is some very very good chrome PC. Go check out, powderbuythepound.com there is alot of samples there. I use one called Ultra chrome. I use a base of KL Killer primer first though to smooth it all out.
