I would like to put a backrest on my stock 06 Deluxe solo seat. I remember a long time ago seeing that it could be done. I think it entailed getting a different back rail for the seat from a different model, but don't quite remember. Also, what backrest pad would work for this setup? Any help I'd greatly appreciate it. Mark
DR. V-TWIN, you're awesome! You gave me a quick reply on my pipes post last week that helped a lot, now this! I've never seen this before. I saw one once before where the backrest "pad" looked to be, not too high, maybe 6 inches or so. But this looks pretty cool. I was just thinking that a little support back there would feel pretty comfy. Any idea what I should bid on this setup? Thanks again
Watch and see how high it goes. Usually the combo sells for several hundred, but you might get lucky here as there are only two days left. I'd rather overbid and still win it by a mile than underbid and lose it in the last minute. I have never seen the set for sale together like this either. You just got lucky.
I've been looking for a similar solution. I found the grab rail on ebay as well asnd a number of people warned me about the quality and fitment of the part. Here is one thread I could find
Not sure who's making that seat/rail, but definitely not the Harley brackets....
I got lucky and pieced mine together - Harley shop put me in touch with a guy who had purchased the rail a few years ago and then gotten rid of his bike - lucky for me he still had the rail. I was able to find both pads (tall and short) on ebay $125 for the tall one and $85 for the short one. The brackets are still available from Harley so I bought them at the shop. You can find them you just have to scour ebay for a while...
I put the one from ebay on my bike. It is a knock off, but I could not see spending $250.00 - $275.00 for just the rail.
The pad that comes with it is not bad, but made me feel cramped, so I took it off. I did have to push it kind of hard to get it to fit in the spots on the seat pan and click in, but it can be done.
I got it just for looks, and if I was to find a real one for a decent price I would buy it and change it out.
The ones on ebay usually go for about $100.00 - $120.00
