I haven't yet, still weighing my options. Here are my ideas: Black powdercoated bars, black powedercoated rims/hubs, chrome front end, chrome brake calipers (front/back), chrome controls to contrast the black bars.

What do ya think?

IMO, I think what would look best is the bars the same color as the bike, and the rest of what you saidas well. My second suggestion is to do exactly as you had listed (black bars). I had 5 harley's so far. Of which none of them were black, until my latest purchase of my Deluxe. I was going to find a used bike, deluxe or fatboy at the time, and either get a black one or paint it black. To me, it is easiest to make a black bike flow, since the frame already matches the tins. So, for me, it is a logical progression at that point to just add the black bars and parts.

I think your bike is a great color. If you go with black bars, the more black you can tie in, i.e. the wheels, frame, etc, the better it will come together. I think you may also want to consider the front end parts black as well (forks, upper and lower, lights, etc). Maybe before you go too far, ask one of the talented folks in the photoshop forum to take a stab at blacking out some parts for you on a pic of your bike. That's what I did, and it helped me a lot!

Here's what they came up with:

although the blacked items are plentyful, I am not sure I am totally going this route.

Give them an idea of what you are looking to do, I'm sure they'll help you out!

What ever way you go, I'm sure it will look awesome!

Post pics, or PM me a link to the pics that they post for you. I am curious what they come up with!!!!!

i have undone the two bolts holding the switch covers together....How exactly do you remove the switches from their housings to swap the caps...I have read through this thread and everyone has glossed over it...do they come out when you release the little screw which holds the wires in place or is ther something i cannot see....Thanks&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Bob

Ok,&nbsp\\; H.eres the Quick tutorial on how to change the chrome switch caps.
&nbsp\\;
1.&nbsp\\; .I normally start on the throttle side.&nbsp\\; Loosen the throttle cable adjusters to have enough slack to remove the throttle cables from the grip.&nbsp\\;
2…&nbsp\\; Remove the two screws that hold the switch housing together.
3…. Separate the switch housing and remove the screw in the upper housing that hold the switches in place.&nbsp\\; Then the switches should come out of the housing.
4….&nbsp\\; Carefully using a small screwdriver or a pick.&nbsp\\; Pry the caps off the switches.&nbsp\\;
5….&nbsp\\; Next just snap the appropriate switches back into place.
6….&nbsp\\; Reinstall in reverse order.
7….&nbsp\\; Now for the bottom half.&nbsp\\; You will have to remove the throttle cables from the grip.&nbsp\\; Since you have already taken the slack out of the adjusters,&nbsp\\; they should already be loose enough to remove.&nbsp\\; Just make sure you don’t loose those little brass barrel thingys that are on the ends of the cables.&nbsp\\;
8…&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Next remove the screw in the lower housing that holds the switch in place and then the switch will come out of the housing.
9….&nbsp\\; Pry the switch cap off,&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; then install new switch,&nbsp\\; Replace entire switch back into housing and replace screw.
10.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Reassemble both the throttle lines in the grip and now put both halves of the switch housings back together and tighten up.
11.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Adjust the throttle cables per service manual instructions.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;
12.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Then you are done with the first side,&nbsp\\; The other side is the same just no throttle cables to worry about.

I thought it was pretty easy. Did pretty much what everyone has already mentioned. I believe it took about 40min.

Big thanks for this pic. This is exaclty what Im going to do. ISO grips with chrome swtich caps and relocate turn signals.

Very helpful thread also.

yes, thank you jcboof....I got the left side finished with no problems but started on the right side and the directions that came with the switches really do suck.
