I pulled my wheels today, popped the tires off and knocked out the wheel bearings. Tommorrow night I'm going to powder coat the wheels. I've been leaning towards fire engine red because I've always liked that look and I've never had a bike with red wheels. I'm also thinking maybe basic gloss black. Stay monochromatic. What do you think?
I doing my Fat Boys dish wheels gold in the center and sun glo red on the rims(outer polished outside).
I like the red too and the guy that is doing the powder suggested the gold center I liked the idea.
I like the red
Personally I think the red wheels would look great on your bike but only if you plan to add some more red to the bike. Whether it is pinstripes, grips or something else, to me you need to have some more red to make it look right. If you don't plan on adding more red go with the black.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm thinking I was right all along with the red. Worst comes to worst it just costs me a set of bearings if I don't like it.
The red is a bright red. I am pretty sure the name of the powder is "fire engine red." About like a Craftsman toolbox. Good suggestion on the red pin stripe. Maybe a few "Von Dutch" bits here and there. I'll post pictures when it's done.
