Just had mine done a month ago. From what my guy told me is that harley has somewhere between 5-7 coats of clear overtop the decal. He had to strip mine all the way down and repaint it, but it looks amazing. Just an idea but when he did mine i had him smooth the center seam also so i no longer need a tank bib, heres a couple pics. Yours might be different though because its the matte paint, not sure...
rowdy , your tank looks great without the tank bib . your guy deserves a beer !
I was hoping to remove the pin stripping and 'harley davidson' on the fuel tank and fenders and leave the tin work as just matte denim black. Can you remove them, they look like they are simple decals rather than painted on, or, will I need to get it all sanded back and resprayed? Hopefully you can peel them off???? Any advice would be graet, cheers S
yeah, I think its painted with clear coat, so you would have to strip the paint off the bike and repaint, I think to do it right.
Frankly, I bought the bike because of the pinstriping. You are paying for that extra task done at the factory. I like it, and I'm having a custom seat made that duplicates the pattern on the leater.
Im with you guys, the pinstripes are nice but sometimes they can be too much. Just depends on what direction your trying to go with the bike. If i had to do it all over again i would lose the stripes as my first mod. All a matter of opinion though.
