So...this winter / spring I made a lot of changes to my bike, most of them superficial. Fixed quite a few wiring issues, moved my coil, re-wired some of the harness. All done very carefully, checking and re-checking using crimps, solders and heatshrink on everything. Paid close attention to factory wiring diagram and am pretty much certain I got it all right

But I have what seems (to me) to be some pretty serious engine noise.

1)valve-train noise. Loud click/tick that follows RPM exactly. Have adjusted pushrods several times to no avail. New lifters necessary? But the noise sounds like it's at the TOP, in the heads?

2)weird...hard to describe...clunking sound in clyinders...like something's...off balance. I don't want to use the word "knock" but that's kinda what it sounds like...like when you put a pair of shoes in a dryer? Not that severe...but kinda like that.

bike actually runs pretty damn strong at all ranges except idle and low RPM. Minor sneeze through carb here and there. Idle a tad fast and if I back off bike dies

I pulled my VOES and grounded the wire, which means I'm at full advance all the time. Maybe it IS engine knock? I intend to reinstall a VOES (mine was shot...got a new one)...

anyway...I'm at the end of my capability here, and I straight up can't afford a shop. i guess maybe I should put the bike away and wait until I can, but...fact is...I just plain don't trust any shops around here. Lifestyle is a ****ing RIPOFF and the other ones...it just seems like people are sloppy, plus $80 an hour average is just ridiculous

I keep hoping I'll meet someone that knows their **** and wants to help out in person but it hasn't happened yet.

I tried to get vid of my bike running so I could illustrate the sound, but when I'd put it on my computer it'd just lock up every time.

really frustrated. seems everything's falling apart and riding that bike is the only respite and now I can't do that!
