Well I guess it had to happen eventually. Went and stuck my boot against the nice chrome, albeit very hot pipe heat shields and left a nice black smear. What the best way to remove it? Seems like its pretty cooked on there...
Was thinking about using a blade but that might scratch the pipe...
Just try some chrome cleaner and elbow grease. You might get lucky and it will all come off without much work.
I had burnt on rainsuit and chrome polish removed it all with mucho elbow grease.
No big deal, it happens all the time. I have always used easy off oven cleaner, the cold version. Spray it on cold pipes at night and just wipe it off in the morning, works every time.
Hmmm....Maybe I use GooGone too much on stuff, but that works well for me with little effort, and NOT warming the pipes up first. Never had an issue, and it takes care of it every time.

i have this problem alot due to the wifes inability to keep her boots off my pipes..best quickest way to get it off no scratching etc..
laqure reducer that $hit removes everything from chrome period..
