Default Help with 06 Heritage riding comfort...please!

I got a 2006 Heritage Softail FLST/I (the base model..not classic). Anyways, bad decision as I wish I would have went with the classic or a street glide. Live and learn. Should have spent the extra money.
Anyways...I have been working on getting the thing more comfortable. Doesnt seem like very many miles and my back and shoulders were killing me along with numb hands. It HAD the Fatboy bars on it from the factory. I went and bought a set of bars from a FLSTC Heritage classic. They are like 8.5 inch mini apes it looks like. I put on the ISO grops and the bars now seem great. No numb hands, better back etc.
The problem no is that after about 50-70 miles...my *** is killing me. Feels like I am sitting on my tail bone since I am now sitting more upright. My tail bone was broke a few years back too, so that doesnt help. Neither does being like 285 lbs either! lol
My seat is the plain one with removable passenger pillion that came out on the 06 Heritage Softail. I am looking and thinking that a seat off a Heritage classic may be better as they are alot wider than mine. They seem pretty pricey at times on ebay though.. so maybe a Mustang or ? Whats my options as I would like to have it solo MOST of the time, with the ability to put on the pillion as needed.
Lastly... My seat is attached in the rear by two studs coming up through the rear fender.. Is this like a Springer or what would be involved with putting on a different seat? I hate to have two studs or holes visible on the rear fender..PLUS the hole where the pillion attaches.
Just looking for thoughts and ideas...

I have the same bike you have. I found it very uncomfortable. The handlebars sucked. I put a set of Wideglide bars and a Sundowner seat I had from my 2001 Heritage. It's comfortable now.
The Heritage Softail Classic seat is attached with two bolts on the sides. You can remove the two studs and plug the holes with chrome plugs.
By the way, I rode a 7000 mile trip on a 2000 Heritage with the stock seat. Wasn't bad at all.

I have a heritage so kind of hard to tell.... but I bought a seat with a back rest and love it!!
I am also a big guy 300lbs on a softail - I am looking at the works heavy duty shocks - not sure how well the will work but they are supposedly for 250 lbs and up. Any one try these yet?

Yeah, bars made a difference, no I am down to the seat. I looked at both the wide glide bars as well as the Heritage classic bars. For me, I just liked the hand position on the heritage bars better as they didnt seem as "turned in" as the wide glide bars. Both were similiar in height and pull back. A definate improvement over the low fatboy bars.

Man, thats cool. Wish I could do a tank before stopping. Like I said, a broken tail bone and being a big guy definately doesnt help either... lol

I find my '04 Heritiage Classic seat very comfortable. You can probably find something similar for your '06 in the parts for sale forum or on eBay for alot less than a new Mustang or Corbin seat. Be aware if you are not already that some seats move you forward or back on the bike. So, if you have long legs like I do, you probably don't want to be sitting further forward. Just something to keep in mind. I have the fatboy bars on mine and they are pretty comfortable. I had some numbness in a couple of fingers initially, so I rotated my bars back a little to even out my grip. A windhsield will also help with the numbness as it will deflect the wind off your chest.
