Don't use the kuryakyn backrest, my wife tried that on her bike and it butt ugly. I have seen stock seats with a grab rail that accomodates a backrest. I've been looking for that setup but still can't find it. Gonna have to try a HD dealer for the backrest, the rail is stil available at a dealer.
I have an 08' Heritage that I got a backrest off of ebay from a store, it goes right under the two bolts for the pass. pillion. Black with a chrome plate and is easy to remove. Also looks good when you are one up. The company is in Atlanta,Ga. Prob. could find the receipt somewhere, my picture is too big to upload, so if you want e-mail me and I will send you some pic's.

Hmmm... I am tempted to buy the QD HD part but then I figure I would never take it off anyway so I didn't bother. I just want something that works and I can stick an American flag on there once in a while.
I'm not sure that the 09's are different from the 08's. I had the Firehouse backrest, and my wife complained. The Grasshopper looks about the same. No adjustment. I changed the whole seat and went with Ultimate. It work great. As comfortable as stock, and keeps you in the same riding position. Unlike Mustang that moves you up and back. Not cheap though.
Really? I did not know that. It seems that would be a pretty significant change to get the rear pillion higher. What is the reason for the height? Where did the room go to?
I put backrests on both my bikes. What a difference in ride quality. It feels like I can ride all day now. I have the Firehouse on the Heritage and on the Road King I swapped the seat for a HD custom seat with backrest.
I just ordered the GrassHopper. The guy sounded very friendly and even said he will adjust it so I would not need Risers for my handle bar. I should receive it by next week and will report back.

I was going by the disclaimer on their main page and what others have posted: "This backrest will work on 09/10 models if you don't use the passenger seat"
