Many seats/backrests are made from synthetic materials, they will tell you that it is cheaper, more weatherproof, require less care and look identical to leather. That is up to you to decide if they are correct. My Grasshopper looks identical to the leather Heritage seat.
Do you have a picture with it on the bike?

I'd have to agree with "Rad", as there are a few minor quirks with the Grasshopper...
But, it works well for me, and the material is a good match with the bags as mentioned. And it does work with the passenger seat installed, although I've only used it that way once; as I run with it solo the majority of the time.
From what I've found, it's the least costly alternative to a new seat with a backrest...

I have a Grasshopper backrest on my Heritage and also had one on a previous bike. They work great and the price is right. On the Heritage, the Grasshopper backrest when used with the passenger pillion will push you forward so be mindful of that. I wanted to get a little closer to the handlebars so this was perfect for me.
