I have 16" smart gimps and they did slip a little I put sandpaper in between the bars and risers and they are very solid now.. Id also like to sell these because I changed my front end and want something wider .
I had 14" Narrow base grit hangers on my sporty.I loved those bars. But they did slip.My buddy had 14 " Gimps and his slipped also.Bottom line these bars do slip.Dont now why they just dont knurl them especially for the price you pay. use could use ethier hockey tape or sheet rock sandding screen between the clamp and bars to prevent this.Tom
Take a center punch and hammer all around the area where your risers clamp on the bars...its DIY knurling. Or make a few small shims by cutting up a beer can, and clamp them between your bars & risers.
Brett Good thread, ive narrowed my bar choice down to nASH Bars or RSD's..... Hit up CRyan9, he just put some Gimps on his..
Chad, PM me, im leaning towards the pudgy grits but Gimps are sweet too... What kinda bars you wanting to change too?
yeah, I am on the fence. I want taller bars. I am looking at the Carlini's, Nash, and BR Customs. I want Springer specific bars. I don't want to use an adapter plate. The carlini's are PRICEY and only come in 16" for the evil springers. I think 16s will be too tall. I think 14s will be right on the money. The Nash's apparently slip. I am looking at the BR New Wave 2. They are knurled and I can get them raw, so I can have them PCed locally. They charge $90 to coat. I am sure I can get them done cheaper than that. I looked at the wild 1s, but they only come either 12.5" or 16" and the center section is way too wide in my opinion. I know if I change risers, I could go with 16s, but I would rather not. Springer risers are hard to find without spending a boat load of cash. I know you can get the adapter studs, but I don't like the idea of that either.

A guy from Nash told me they don't knurl simply because they don't have the machine to do it and there are so many different applications out there.
