Found 4 broken spokes on my '04 Heritage's rear wheel at the end of an 8 day Colorado ride. I realize I need to reevaluate my Gross Vehicle Weight probably. Can/should I just replace the spokes or should I get a new rim altogether? I'm also considering a solid chrome rim. Thanks for any input.
If the hub isn't damaged you should be able to just replace the broken spokes.
You're problem might not be weight but loose spokes. Take a wrench and check them all, front and rear. Spoke wheels will carry all the weight you could ever load onto them but they have to be adjusted correctly and many don't do it or their dealers don't do it at the service intervals.
