The 777 seems to be wearing a bit fast, but at that price I'm getting another when it's time. Then again, it's a front tire, not DD. I did go to solid wheels; love 'em. What other bike you get?
I had some 'tard stop for no reason far behind traffic at a light while I was looking elsewhere yesterday and dang near laid her down, passing him with the rear wheel skidding. Wasn't time to panic brake straight, and reflexes made me lean the bike, but releasing pressure got the tire to grab again. Even a CT can slide out, despite the better traction. That's several times now. Missed a downshift rev in a curve once or twice (engine cough). Man, don't DO that!

actually picked up a bike that dominated both the Baha 500/1000 for the years it was in production, from '00-'07 an XR650R that's plated so it's legal to run on the street.
i've built it up as a SUMO & it totally takes me back to the days of my youth when i was racing motocross
fun stuff
i'm actually running a new set of Shinko's on it, & as you said,, they stick like glue

That's a nice putt. I wouldn't wanna do the switchbacks on the Dragon at our speed with those handlebars, but I'm bettin' you are ridin' a different style.

ok guys I have a couple of questions...plz...i have a 2011 heritage classic..just under 9k miles..so getting ready to replace rear...i like this idea...what brand...size...etc..and how about the front want to do both at the same time if possible..everything on the bike is stock...but common sense tells you that if the tire fits...is better and lasts longer why not use it

Shoot dawg, I believe you can fit a decent 205 in there, being the larger tired later model bike, so the world is your oyster, as they say. You might find some company in here:
http://darkside.nwff.info/
If you are an aggressive rider like meself is, you may wanna stay with the narrowest CT you can run, for less crossover effect, although everyone gets used to what they run pretty
fast, like 100 miles or so. A beach ball doesn't belong on the Dragon or the Snake, any more than a frog, but I'd take a fat CT over a fat MT any day, up to the ranges above 215.
Beyond that width area, I can't say WHAT would be better, because either one would offset the centerline of the bike by a larger margin, the wide MT's transcending ovally to their
outbound contact patch, and the wide CT's HOPEFULLY flexing ENOUGH to put the centerline closer to center; see what I mean?
Hanged if I wanna run 25 lbs. or less of air and try to hang a 70mph sweeper. Just sayin'.

I am banging my head as I ask this (seriously what is wrong with me ), but what is the smallest tire you can fit ? 150 ?

Smallest CT you can get will be a 175...my original OEM was a 150/80/16.
Went with the popular Vredestein 175/75/16, wore that out in some 18K, it was then discontinued, but there is a 185 still available.
Next I am running the Austone 175/75 but had to work it a bit to get rid of most of the wobble - I now RECOMMEND RideOn tire sealant/balancer for all tires.
Next, I may be running a 185 Cargo van tire; I see the numbers working, but man, it's really gonna be close and probably will have to bend the left fender skirt out a bit.
The later model softails will be able to run wider profiles due to changes made.
