Same here, but all mine did was flash the lights and not turn over, no fuel pump sound either.
Just like I had left the fob in the house.

However, in the ON position at the main on/off/acc switch, the headlights came on real strong and the battery seemed ok. After a few tries (in the run position) the bike started to start but just seemed like it was not getting enough juice and then backfired really bad and died. All kinds of things were going through our minds as to what could be the problem.

Then we found what the cause was…very simple….

Can you guess what it was????

After a few days, I will come back to this thread and post what we found and see if any of you can guess what the problem was.

Hint: think out of the box on this one!
I wont even begin to guess, but it sounds like you have some serious mechanical issues.

I'm going to go with some sort of fob interference as well. That's really the only thing that makes sense.

Either the battery getting low as someone suggested, or something interfering with the signal.

I'm going to lean towards signal interference. Either from another rider nearby or from some other portable electronic device someone was carrying.

Yeah, it's got to be some kind of fob issue.

YEP. Other nearby FOB set to default as the rider's or some RF transmission interfering; gas pumps, sat.radio, cell phone, etc.

I once had a 5.25 floppy drive (aging myself now) that would not load if within close proximity of the monitor. Slide it away - worked fine. Inadequate shielding.

The metal end that the plug wires attach to on the spark plug had come unscrewed.
