went for a ride today, bout an hour up the interstate, i never wear ear plugs, and didn't today, but when i arrived, my ear was buzzing, loud, to where i can't hardly hear anything out of it, and its still buzzing, i don't know if the ride had anything to do with it or if i have some infection, anyone else ever have this problem? i have never had this, oh, and my ear doesn't hurt, just a constant buzz, a LOUD buzz, i did wear ear plugs for the ride home.
Just got back from a 1600 mile trip down the blue ridge to Deals Gap, we blew home 550 miles on the interstate. The two guys with no windshields said they could barley hear after about half way, same ringing in the ears. One guy actually went to the doctor. The wind noise is what does it and it can cause hearing loss if you do it all the time.
I noticed the same thing. I dont have a shield and wear a half helmet. I picked up some Alpine Motosafe earplugs from the ear plug super store online. The cancel out only sounds above a certain level, they are not electric. They work great, my ears dont ring and I can still hear around me. Actually the first time I used them they kind of freaked me out since I could hear the noise of the cars tires next to me on the freeway.
I have a buddy who wears them for that reason (buzzing). He started wearing them a couple years ago....he has ridden for a long time and all of a sudden he had the same problem startup...plugs do the trick. I wear a open face 3/4 so never had the issue.
thanx alot guys, i do wear a half lid, and if i have to start wearing plugz i will, don't really want to, but this isn't going to cut it, thanx for the feedback.
Be careful of your hearing folks. I operated a Les Paul and a Super Reverb four or five nights a week in some of the finer honktonks around norcal for many years and I still get the occasional whoooo-eeeeeeee!!! tones at night. There is a general background hiss in my hearing that I don't pay attention to.
Once in a while I'll wear my novelty helmet and shades on the Hayabusa. The noise can be deafening because there isn't a shield, only a small fairing screen. Anything ove 90 is nuts... but I sure get some looks pulling into Sac Harley... -L-
I have ridden with ear plugs for several years now. I think everything just sound's better with them in. I hear exhaust, no engine or trans noises, or wind. I can also hear important sounds like sirens. Try them.
