Wanted to know if any Deluxe owners are running the Screaing Eagle 204 Cams in their Deluxe. If so how do they like it. Did it make an improvement on your ride, more power, etc... Is this Mod worth doing. I am thinking of installing these cams. Im currently running the SE stage 1 air cleaner/Samson Long Tails/SE Super Tuner in my 2008 Deluxe Appreciate all inputs....
A cam is gonna improve any motor if larger than stock. An 08 is a 96, a 255 duration cam is the way to be, (dunno if THATS a 204). But the twin cam has to be torn down to install the cams so its my .02 if ya cam it may as well re-jug it. may cost more for parts but the work involved is all the same at that point.
I have been running the 204s in my 05 Fatboy for a few years and I have a couple of friends that are using them in newer 96ci softails and one in a RK.
The SE 204 is a very good mid range drop in cam that will pull to almost 6000 rpm. My 95 ci with 204 , PCIII, se adjustable push rods and A/C makes 85 hp 92 tq with a canned map, I have seen dyno charts on 96ci motors with the 204 almost making 100 / 100. Overall its avery good drop in cam.
I agree if you have the money go Big Bore to but with the quick change adjustable push rods there is no need to touch the rocker boxes, heads or barrels to do a cam change so doing the top end is a lot more labor,
I dont know if your 08 has the new tensioners and oil pump but if it doesnt upgrade to the ESE kit while your in there.
