Default Oil question....

I've got a '08 Heritage and I'm gonna change the oil. I looked in my workshop and I have 1 quart of Harley full-synthetic 20W50; two qts of Castrol 20W50; and 1 qt of Mobil 1, synthetic 5W30. Would it be ok to mix those??

I would not do it. I work on cars and 5-30 and 10-30 together no problem but mixing different weights I have seen it gum up

Default Correct fluids

Just go to Amsoil website and enter your bike model and year. It will give all your fluids and quantities.

If it were me I wouldn't mix them. I would rather spend my dollars on the oil it's a hell of alot cheaper than having to replace a tranny or worse. I won't even bring up what type of oil is best. If you check out the lube forumn there is no shortage of good oil out there, read it and make an educated decision for your self.

You can mix brands as long as it's the same oil IE: weight and type (syn or dino). I don't do it but been told by a oil company engeneer that it would work, he also said that he would as soon as possible would go back to a uniform oil if it was him. I have topped off my engine with Mobil 1 when amsoil was in...both full Syn and 20w50 v-twin oil.

So two questions:

1. The different weights gunk up? I thought they just changed the weight.

2. Different brands don't mix?

So, let's see. You have a bike worth over 10 grand, and you want to scrimp on the oil by using some leftovers laying around your shop???

OOOOOOOOOOKK !!!!
