As soon as the pump gets aholdt of it, it is mixed and will never return to its original state. No damage, mix it up all you want.
Don't put gear oil in your engine though. I ran a chevy out of oil on the interstate, it was knocking like hell. All I had was something like 75w-140. I put it in, it stopped knocking. By the time I got home, 3 plugs were fouled, and it was smoking like hell. Didn't blow up, and it got me home. lmao.
