Default price check on 07 fatboy

Hi, I am looking to buy a friends 07 fatty to help him out. The bike has 11k on it but it does need work, I would need to replace the floor boards, levers, tires and possibly paint it. it does run good but i doubt the oil has been changed in a couple of years. (He forgets to put his feet down when he drinks) would the 9-11 k be reasonable? not sure if its to high or to low. Thanks in advance. Mike

Thanks for the reply. I really do not want the bike so I would need to put it back in shape to re sell it or hopefully he can buy it back in a while.

Good luck with it man. Im sure you could make a few bucks in the end for your time $ and energy invested. You sound like a good friend helping the guy out that way. My hats off to you.

I wouldn't count on making any money - the market is flooded with good deals. Feel
bad that so many folk have had to unload their bikes. Motorcycle Consumer News has
the retail on that bike at $13185 but don't think a private party could get that here
in SoCal. IMHO.

Location is everything i agree. I was figuring making a few bucks, (not getting rich) depending on how much work and cost to have it done etc. Its never a science and as always its only worth what someone will pay.

what book did you look at? it wasn't that much brand new. NADA shows $11,300 - $13,185 low to average retail. you'd be pushing the market to get over $11,000 - if it's all fixed up and repainted.

think about it. why would someone want to spend the same or more for one that's been dropped numerous times, when they can get one in like new condition.

just my .02 worth.

Just for reference: I paid 12K for my 07 FB in May this year. It was in near new condition: 2500 miles, V&H Pro-pipe, Kuryakyn Hi-Five AF, SERT, windshield and bags plus all the original take-off parts. Although I think I got a pretty good deal, I don't know if I'd pay over 9K for a bike that needs a lot of work and has not been well maintained.

Here's a pic (it's the white FB):
