They look bitchin' on bikes taken into certain directions (styles) and the become sort of a must when you have long legs and you're looking for extra comfort.
Mimo.
I couldn't agree more.... I wanted (needed) the extra legroom
I'm thinking of putting forward controls on mine, also. Mostly because of the extra room to stretch out. I've always had pegs, and now the boards seems to keep me sitting straight up instead of laid back. My only problem is that I can't find them in black, they are only showing to be in chrome in the parts book.

Most all of the aftermarket companies making them have them available in black as well as the chrome. Mine are black in my post above...

Thanks Mimo... Wait 'til you see it with the new front-end setup. I just got the forks back from Race Tech last week... It's gonna be a whole new aggressive style that most aren't used to seeing, especially on a Softail!!
I have forward controls on my Fat Boy and I do enjoy them for shorter trips. Also, it looks great with the way my bike is set up. The drawback is longer rides. I just start getting uncomfortable and have no room to move around.

Try ebay. If you have an 07 or newer fatboy you can get the stock forwards of any 07 or newer softail and it is a direct bolt on. Mine came off an 07 Duece. Most all the oem forward controls come in black. BTW, got mine for $150.
Hi,
I am just thinking about doing exactly the same - but, well, on a Heritage... :$ (has anyone done this and pics of that?)
It's no necessarily the leg room only, but just that I feel not having the right feel and control of the bike with the boards. Forward controls actually give a much more direct feedback. (Or may be it's just that I always had them before....)
Though 2007 and up OEM ones are currently difficult to find, it seems, so will keep watching and give it a try based on oportunity I guess.
Greetings Jens
Its a personal thing. I loved the boards to start with but changed my mind and put extended HD forwards on. Love them and how they make me feel when riding.
