I've learned a lot from the softail members...stole some ideas here and there and hopefully helped out a person or two along the way. Great group of folks! My bike evolved into what it is while hanging out here. But I am stepping into the touring side of things now. Bought a 2011 Street Glide 103 in Denim black. Picking her up Saturday.
Put a lot into my Deluxe and labored over the decision but then two things happened.
1. I rode the Street Glide
2. My son bought my bike
Never would have sold the Deluxe any other way...too much into her and never get enough back. But knowing my kid is enjoying what his old man created and he has a bike that he would not otherwise have an opportunity to have brings a smile to my face. No loss to be had there. He's a good kid and deserves it.
Don't think I'll being going ***** out on the mods this time. Gonna keep it modest. We'll see. In the mean time, looking forward to the first road trip... Las Vegas Bike Fest.
I hear ya, I helped my son get his first Harley. Nothing like seeing him smile as he trucks down the road. Good luck with your new ride and hope you post pics of your new ride.
Ride Safe
When I bought my Heritage about a year ago I was looking at the Street Glide first. The Heritage just fit me better, both ergonomically and riding style. Still like the Street Glide a lot. Enjoy.
I always thought your bike to be one of the best around. Your Son sure is lucky! CONGRATS on the new bike. And thanx for the help/answers to questions over time. GOOD LUCK!
I too love the Street Glide. I test drove a Screamin Eagle SG back in the Summer and if times were better I would have bought that bike. Stay in touch with the group, and even though you are in the touring class now, post us a picture or 2 of your new ride here in the Softail group.
Good luck and it's great your son gets the bike. That would be the best way to part with my softy. However, my oldest is 3, so I get to ride it a while longer.
