Six speed for 95 Heritage
My first choice of course is the Screamin Eagle, but I am also considering others, such as Baker.
A big part of my decision is going to be the cost. I would be paying an independent shop to do the work, as I simply do not have the time to undertake such a task. My bike is pretty much bone stock, which is surprising for it's age. I think the only modification is the handlebars are from a newer model Heritage.
I kind of like the idea of keeping a major component such as the transmission HD, and the screamin eagle six speed does have a good reputation and from what I read, will actually shift smoother than my stock five speed.
I am considering Baker, as it probably can be more affordable since it would not be replacing the entire transmission.
Any idea what I would be looking at as for as cost? I am in the Lafayette Louisiana area.
Any bad experiences? Any first hand good experiences?
I like the gearing that I have now for most things, but at 65 mph and higher, it would be nice to have the rpm's a little lower. I am not wanting to change the tooth count of the rear sprocket as it would affect my acceleration and I don't want to lose any. As it is, when I bought the bike a couple of years ago, I found it somewhat lacking in low end power and a bit on the noisey sound. I found that the stock exhausts had been knocked out so there were no baffles or anything. I put in Big City Thunder baffles and I improved the power significantly on the low end, and I have the best sounding bike around. I just would like to get the rpm's a little lower at higher speeds to make it a little easier on the engine and to lesson some of the buzzy type of vibration.
all in all... u should take this post over to the evo forum... ur bike is evo after all
