Just got an 08 Heritage. Great solid ride. I know these are not made for touring but on the Freeway the max comfortable speed is only around 70 to 75 mph. After that it seems a bit uncomfortable and seems like I am really pushing the bike past its comfort zone.
Is this normal? is there anything that can help the power and handling at higher speed for this bike?
There is a lot of extra reciprocating mass on the B motor thanks to the chain counterbalancers. Going 75 on the 6 speed is only pushing the motor to maybe 2700. Around 3k I do get some increased vibrations, but if you push past that, atleast on mine, it smooths back out again. Bounce it off the rev limiter a few times to realize you're not going to hurt it by going to 3-4k and things should improve.
They may shake rattle and roll a bit when you start to rev them a bit but 80mph with a 6 speed and you are no where near pushing it with the bike. It will run like that all day.
Haven't had any problems with mine, a group of us was doing over 80 mph coming coming back from a ride saturday. Sometimes seems like the harder I run the better it runs.
I've had my 08 Heritage up over 100, with no issue, accept for my chin strap not being tight enough. How you would even diagnose this? I can't imagine there are too many service techs that will test ride a bike at those speeds.
We just went from Tampa to North Georgia I75 all the way. Minimum speed was 80.. No problem at all. And still averaged 40-43 MPG. Maybe check wheel balance if its vibrating.
