I'm new to the forum and new to the motorcycle. I just bought a 2005 Heritage Softail and the speedometer does not work. Stopped by the local Harley shop today and the parts guy and tech guy said to change the sensor in the transmission. I did and it still does not work. The guy I bought it from said he had a problem with the battery a while back and blew some fuses. I was wondering if there was anything in the speedometer itself that may been fried. The main odometer and the trip odometer still work. Any help would be appreciated.

If the odo is getting a signal then your probably right about the speedo being bad. Good time to change over to one with a tach.

 

does the main odometer and the trip odometer change or just display? if it changed then the speedo is bad, if it just display then you lost data

Can you recommend one that is compatible with an 05 Heritage that will display in kilometers? Thanks.

 

This is the one I have installed in Reaper. Model number: 70900072A. They make a version that is Kilometers only, as well. I really like it.
