Default rejet question

So I want to finish my stage 1 upgrades. Namely AC upgrade. I understand that I will need to re-jet my carb but how ard is it to do and can y'all give me some pointers on what to look out for.

Any special tools needed? what size jet(s) should I try?

thanks

kirk

will I have to remove the carb or can this be done just by removing the AC cover and filter?

Since you didn't even tell us what BIKE you're riding, you obviously don't know enough to tackle your own work or have a manual. Do you know where the carburetter IS?

we cannot help u if u don't post what bike is it... and we're assuming it's carbed and not a brand new efi type right?
just give us the model and year and additional info like what exhaust are u running and we should help a bit more...
plus get a manual ASAP

FIX MY HOG DVD .. is your best bet + CLymer + Service book for your bike year.. and (like myself) , do it in the winter time because you will mess up a lot and you will need to redo it a few times.. (just the basics of getting the carb out, taking it to pieces, putting it back together and installing it back in again).

The forum here is helpful, have a digital camera ready , take your time and you will be OK

Then in the summer you start riding and testing.
Good luck.

Did my 05 the easy way.Drilled a hole through the cover of the a/f mix backed it off 3 turns took the cover off and put the 1988 sporty needle in.Man what a difference.Didn't change jets, nothing like that.Bike runs great.Went from 53 mpg to 42 mpg the only time it spits now is when I forget to turn on the fuel.

the carb is the big thing I put the gas in right?
Manual? isn't he an undocumented worker?

05 fatboy, V&H staggered Short Shots.
hate to pay for some other idiot to do work this idiot can do.

I have the manual, and can read too, yet I still find actual people who have done the job can teach me more practical ways to do it.

thx

Now we're talking. The sporty needle is about the best mod you can do to your CV carb as suggested.
The main jets are sufficient to handle stage 1 - a test (a bit on the nasty side) is:

To test the main jetting, you must be in fourth or fifth gear and running fairly high RPM (4000+) then open the throttle all the way to the throttle stop, noting the feel of the bike. Immediately let off the throttle about 1/8 turn and note the feel of the bike. If it seems to accelerate some when you let off the 1/8, your main jet is too lean. If it hesitates or the top speed is poor (i.e. less than 80 MPH) you are too rich. Adjust your main jetting accordingly by increasing or decreasing the jet size by 5.

Pilot jets: You probably have a 45 or 46 in there? You'll want to go up a size at a time until you can get the idle screw to work with just a few turns out. I even had to go to a 50 for mine.
Apologies for the bad mood earlier.
