Default Softail shock travel

Does anyone know the rear wheel travel (up and down) for a standard shock
on a Fatboy? Need to know for clearance under the rear fender for a larger tire change.

I don't know if this helps or not, but for about every 1/2 inch you lengthen a shock it lowers the bike 1 inch. I lowered my bike 2 inches (2006 Deluxe) and it now has about 1 1/2 - 1 1/4 inches of travel left before it hits the bump stop.

well it was it was 200 55 17....but you can go with an 18" rim and still clear on your bike.....lots a people have done it ...its not the height you gotta worry about its the width, why you gonna put a taller car tire on?.....if you go to tall it would look ugly anyway

I,m going wider, but as you go wider the the curve on the tire get less(more flat surface); so you have a lot more width up in side your fender, not just at the edge, and the fender is curved decreasing the width. So I took the shocks loose and found that the 160 on a 5" rim(7 1/16") was hitting the sides of the fender up high, on a 3" rim(6 5/8") it worked. This is an 02 Fatboy, so have limited room up in there.
Thanks for reply anyway, I,m just going to have to work on the fender.
