Thinking about a set of Rush slips ons for the wife's new (stock) Deluxe as an interium step to a full stage one but wondering if I can avoid a remap or tuner mods with slip ons only. Probably go with 1.5" or 1.75" baffles. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks
I put a set of SEII on my 09 Heritage at 1000 miles, I'm now at 12,000 and have had no issues. I'm thinking about switching over to Rush 2in Baffles soon. I put Rush slipons on my 07 Sporty and ran it for 19,000 without a stage one, also with no problems.
Wife has the Rush 1.75s on her Deluxe. Over my objections she chose the straightcuts. After getting used to the look (I have the slashdowns) I think she made a good choice.
No remapping needed with the 1.75s. Generally recommended with the 2.0s though several members have said they're doing find with that setup.
I find her pipes sound better than mine. Don't know if that's because of the straightcuts or the shotgun exhaust configuration. Since even her stock exhaust sounded better than my stock I'm leaning toward the latter being the reason.
I've got the Rush with 1.75" baffles and they're great quality. The dealer told me I didn't need to remap as long as I only fitted slip ons.
They sound great and they are a lot louder than when they were first fitted. They set my neighbours car alarm off if I start it on my driveway and they didn't do that when they were new.
If you just do the pipes, you don't "need" to do a remap. But the bike will still run hot. The remap will cool down the bike significantly and she'll be happier without the heat. Adding more air to the mix will also really help in that area. I personally believe you're better off getting the benefits of the remap and more air than you are getting the sound of new pipes. But I know what you're mean...my pipes were changed immediately too.
I appreciate all the helpful input. A set of Rush straight cuts with 1.75" baffles are on order and that will get momma throught the remainder of the riding season. We'll do a full stage 1 this winter along with a Thundermax tuner with auto tune (my personal favorite).
