Too Loud - Options w/o Ruining it
Now then after siad baffle arrived, I had to get D&D muffler off... after some WD40 and using a rubber mallet and such tools, I got the muffler off.
I took off the set screw that holds the baffle in place and had no good idea how to get the baffle out...called D&D, they gave a few ideas. The Thunder Monster baffle is supposed to set in 4-6" from the end of the stock baffle outlet.
I had a muffler shop weld another 3" of the same diameter pipe to the QBL1625 baffle and that way it was 6" in from the end of the stock baffle, and then tack it in place. If I want to remove it I grind off the weld - no big deal.
Results: tone of exhaust is more pleasing and deep, and I feel like more torque is there, so worth it from my point of view and use. Saved me having to change my pipes which would have been $ 600.00 or more, and i picked up some torque.
My cost was 80.00 bucks approx for the QBL and 10.00 for the muffler shop work.
and I'm a happy camper enjoying a cold beer to boot.
Cheers,
Mark
The pre-2007 SEII slip on muffler was basically a straight pipe, most did not have removable baffles. They were obnoxiously loud. The Big City Thunder QBL 1625 goes into the end of the header pipe then the SEII's slip back on. An inexpensive way to take a lot of the edge off.
