I would do the lollipop mod. Takes the crack out of the beast but roars at heavy throttle. Use the search function and search lollipop

Did the mmod on my V&H Longshots... they act great, plus gave me a bit more torque in the bottom

I called Big City Thunder and they sent me (one) QBL1625 baffle.

Now then after siad baffle arrived, I had to get D&D muffler off... after some WD40 and using a rubber mallet and such tools, I got the muffler off.
I took off the set screw that holds the baffle in place and had no good idea how to get the baffle out...called D&D, they gave a few ideas. The Thunder Monster baffle is supposed to set in 4-6" from the end of the stock baffle outlet.

I had a muffler shop weld another 3" of the same diameter pipe to the QBL1625 baffle and that way it was 6" in from the end of the stock baffle, and then tack it in place. If I want to remove it I grind off the weld - no big deal.

Results: tone of exhaust is more pleasing and deep, and I feel like more torque is there, so worth it from my point of view and use. Saved me having to change my pipes which would have been $ 600.00 or more, and i picked up some torque.

My cost was 80.00 bucks approx for the QBL and 10.00 for the muffler shop work.
and I'm a happy camper enjoying a cold beer to boot.

Cheers,

Mark

Default just replaced V&H with stock

I live in a rather quiet neighbourhood too and was lucky never to hear the neighbours complain, to me anyway. My problem with the V&H was that they were way too loud to the point where after a long haul I'd be deaf for a few days...I put stock pipes back on and although I find them too quiet, I find the ride alot more enjoyable...Stock is the way to go but would like to "amp" them up a bit. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Another vote for the Supertrapp Supermeg. One of the best performing 2into1's and very quiet. Tunable too, you can add or remove # of discs to get sound or performance you're looking for.

"If you want to tone down the volume, deepen the note and improve the performance of your Screamin' Eagle II mufflers? We have the answer with our new QQ Series Thunder Monster baffles that install in the exit end of the head pipe and are run in concert with your present Screamin' Eagle II baffles. Part number QBL 1625 $129.95 per pair + S&H"

The pre-2007 SEII slip on muffler was basically a straight pipe, most did not have removable baffles. They were obnoxiously loud. The Big City Thunder QBL 1625 goes into the end of the header pipe then the SEII's slip back on. An inexpensive way to take a lot of the edge off.
