Custom audio setup project...
Mimo.
How big is the amp brotha? I am looking for a small digital amp to run my two 4" speakers. I am building a setup and should be completed real soon if I can just find a decent small amp that is under $100
I have a personal interest in what your doing and since you might be a guinea pig and I wait and see the outcome.... well... u know.

A solo swing arm bag was my first thought as well.
Another thought would be to go to a fastback seat and hollow out the rear and mount under that ?
I can't see how it would look good to mount on top of the fender rack you have now.

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you... good luck! I used to install car audio for about 10 years, and I wouldn't want to take on that project! The only thing I could think of would be a saddle bag setup, but since you don't run saddle bags, that blows that idea out of the water. You could do a pretty slick setup inside a hard sided saddlebag. Could do a quick disconnect setup, Amp, small EQ, distro (Fuse) block, etc... and keep it all inside one saddle bag, and have the other for other stuff you actually needed to carry. Good luck, and let us know what you decided on... I am really interested to see what you come up with!
Ok guys, today's progress... (man I love this forums)
I managed to find some decent 6" halogen lapms (harley's spot lights are 5" so you can get the idea of the size difference) with a chromed housing (Auto Zone $40 bucks the pair). As soon as I got home I took the lamp out and voilá the 4" speaker fitted like a glove inside the housing. Now, the speaker uses all the front space so I'll have to mount the tweeter on top of it with some custom made fixture, it will look like a normal coaxial speaker.
Now answering some of your questions:
Fireman, check this link to the manufacturer's site it gives you the actual measurements: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=595 it is a small amp but since it's a class D, set to 2 ohms it delivers 100RMS watts per channel (2 channels).
Lion, those measurements above should give you a pretty good idea of where to and where not
Hockey, agreed, perhaps the original passenger pillion from the FatBoy could be carved in to fit the amp stealth mode, very good idea, I'll check on that. Thank you.
fcsallan, the amp can run w/o issues from 11.1v to 14.1 if I'm not mistaken, as long as the bike is running when the music is sounding no problems, a master switch will be in charge to shut down the entire system when the bike goes off (the "remote" wire of the amp could do that too).
N Stalker, thank you... The guy that I'm asking for electrical guidance (audio installer) said the same thing "now you got me worried"
It's just an experiment if it goes bad I sell the amp and save my speakers for a future car audio project (right now I have a pair of those on top of my truck's dash just for mid range freqs, I can hear the singers taking air for the next line
)
I'm worried about the looks (size of the speaker's housing). They are going in the crash bar 100% I don't want those m. mouse ears on my apes.
As you're about to see in minutes when I upload some pics is that the housings can be easily fixed to the crashbar using my old (three-piece) highway pegs brackets.
Be back in a trip to the garage...
