Default D&D Fatcat (again)

Got mine in last night and couldn't wait to get it on. Was disapointed w/the sound so I pulled the baffle out. Haven't been on a test ride yet. That will be this eve after I get off work. Does anyone run them w/o the baffle? I have an 02 FLSTC, carb, 95", 204 cam.

I have the same pipe and love the sound. There is a member on here who just purchased a BCT Monster baffle for this pipe. It is supposed to give it a deeper, throatier sound. A bunch of us have been trying to get him to give us an update, but he seems to have walked off the face of HDForums so I can't even give you a link to that post.
I think in the Spring I am going to get that baffle to try it out. For $100, why not give it shot.
Not to sure how well the bike will run with no baffle. I know with a EFI engine it runs like sh$t but with a carb you may be able to tweek it a bit.

Well, keep me posted if ya find out. I'll let ya know how it runs w/o the baffle also. I'm sure if I have to put it back in, that's going to be a PIA to get lined up w/the retaining bolt hole.

I talked to BCT on Monday and here is what I learned. You buy one of their baffles and put it inside the baffle in your pipe as they do not make a 4" baffle. It will be quieter at idle but deeper and throatier as well. I have not yet decided to do this but might sometime soon.

I love the sound of my fatcat as it is not overbearing at idle and really has a nice ring to it when you get on it, but as we all know sound is very subjective. If buying the BCT setup you only need one baffle and the prices are all for two on their site so chop the price in half.

I still don't understand how putting another baffle inside the one that is already there will make it deeper and throatier which is why I am yet to drop the hammer on this. I was alos told this will up the torque as well.

As far as measuring for the baffle, use a socket inside the current baffle and when you find the right size socket that just barely slides in that is the size you need.

I'm glad you discovered that Dr.. I was kinda thinking about going with the BCT for some more volume but the last thing I want to do is double up the baffles.. Looks like I'll just get the big bore baffle from D&D and be done..

Another option is to get the biggest baffle BCT makes and remove the baffle in teh D&D but that does not sound like a good idea to me.

The big boar baffle from D&D is for 107" motors and bigger according to them. If you want louder you can always take out the baffle in the pipe and cut it down a bit. I did this with a set of Hookers I had and it got way louder when I cut it down without affecting performance too much.

I had a set of V&H BR and put a set of BCT baffles in and loved the sound. Defintely deeper. I'm not sure about the performance because I didn't do a dyno before and after. I now have the Fatcat and if the BCT would give it a deeper tone that would be awesome. I do wonder about the performance differences though. More torque is always great but the Fatcat is a performance pipe and I wonder about making changes to the amount of back pressure. I was really curious to hear the outcome of the other forum member.

I just installed a V&H pro pipe 2-1 on my bike. When I first cranked it up and rode it I didn't like the sound. I starting looking for another baffle. I rode the bike on a little longer trip then the first and as funny as it may sound the more I rode it the sound seemed to change. I love the sound of it now. It doesn't sound anything like it did the first time I cranked it. Maybe you should give it a chance. (or maybe I'm just nuts)

LOL, no i don't think you're nutz but I just got back from riding mine and at first I thought this was just entirely too loud. Then my son and I swapped bikes so I could listen to it from the side. I couldn't even here his low rider w/V&H but it was ok. Didn't really notice any loss of pwr. If anything may be a little more or maybe it's just i wound it out a little more. I may put the baffle in later but I'll ride it like this for awhile. I usually ride w/a little walkman AM/FM radio clipped to my pocket w/a small set of headphones. I may have to turn it up a little more. hehehehe
