buddy of mine lowered his fatboy, and advised me not to lower mine. he is constantly scrapping his foot boards in turns! dont know if this is a universal problem with foot boards, or maybe my friend is just to fat! lol

Great looking bike, thanks for the heads up on the air system, does any of it show? Compressor, lines, ect?
ORIGINAL: FatBoy2five0

I used White bros in rear and harley on front ,went 2 in front and rear ,looked great but rode like crap scraped in corners,& when 2 up bottomed out when going over a crack or even a shadow, now have Legend Air in rear , dont get no better, rides great , add a little more for 2 up rides fine no bottoming and when you pull up somewhere and drop it down, people come runnin to look , and aint that part of it anyway?

I'm 6'3" and lowering your ride is something you WON"T like.

Mine bottomed, gave me a hard time cornering and having a King Cobra seat just did not helped much... Crushing an insect on the road hurted my *** more than the bug's!!!

I lowered my ride with white bros. extensions a good 2 1/2, the ride looked killer but it just felt accordingly... I went up with the same extensions as high as I could, I don't know the current height.

My $.02

Regards.

I was actually interested more in looks, but dont want to sacrifice too much on the ride i'm 6'1".So appparently lowering is no longer an option.thanks

Why are you considering lowering it? More stability? Flat feet on the ground? Or, just looks?
It will ride rougher when lowered and speed bumps all of a sudden look like hills! But, the handling is much better for my 5-9" frame.

I ride my buddies Fatboy all the time. Its decked out with the lowering kit, West Coast pipes and Apes. Very clean bike! He and I are both smaller guys and the floorboards never scrape in the corners and when I ride my wife with me it does not bottom out but she is only 115lbs. He was using a 2 inch kit, (dont know what brand) but as soon as he installed the WCC Pipes the fires hard right corner he took the tip of his pipes scraped... He turned it back up another inch in the rear... Still look bad to the bone.

It's all about how low you go and your preload setting (for an OEM setup with a kit).. and your seat.
My preload is set as tight or maybe a little bit tighter than stock.
My height is only about an inch so looks great and sits great.
My seat cushions the bumps nicely.

Happy camper with my kit.. Down another 1/2" MAX and it will be perfect.
2 inches lower or more is a completely different lifestyle.. For those who don't care for shocks in general. hehe But it can be really problematic.. I say 1 to 1 1/2 inches is fine.

Ha! I was about to warn you about tight turns with "hell bent pipes" from Jesse James, I guess that is what you buddy has on his ride... Hell bent's + lowered bike = no good

My real concern are the bad highways here in Mexico, If I wan't to look bad *** the *** is going to pay for that... but Safety is a whole different thing, I cannot afford to bottom loosing control of the bike in a curve or passing a car in a tight situation...

Regards.

I think LA Choppers makes a stiffer spring but you have to disassemble the shock to install it.
