Very new to the forum and newer to HD. I am looking at two different 05 Deluxes and was wondering if there are any *known* issues to look out for?
Both are fuel injected (as I understand carb. was also available that year).
Now, here's the kicker: one has only 800 miles on it...is bone stock and they want 12,400 for it. The other has 11K miles on it with some small mods (exhaust, chrome accessories....nothing big) and they are asking 13,995 for it.
My gut is telling me to go with the bone stock one mainly because of the miles.
Any thoughts, advice? Known problems with the 05?? Again, I am a newb so be gentle!
Thats a no brainer! 800 miles is still under the break in. Thats still a new bike man. SCREW the other one!
Yup...that's what I'm thinking. One of the benefits of buying from the other dealer (with the higher mile 05) is I get free winter storage (not sure how much that's worth really).
Other than that...are there any known issues with 05's in general.
I've had my 05' since new, never had a problem with it so far! knock on wood! First time you scrape the floorboards might spook you a bit, but I am really happy with it! 100% stock w/ 800 miles I'm with everyone else!
Only thing i heard about the 05's is some have a fuel line from the pump that gets a hole in it and makes a sucking spraying sound but i think its all models and years my homie had the same thing on his 04 softie
Check the rear spokes. There was some problems with 05 and 06 with the rear spokes coming loose.Should be checked at the 1k service.I know from experience on this one.
