Had the Fat Boy serviced (5000 mls) in July, the bike runs great but on acceleration I get a metal tinking sound ( like two coins being tapped together ) along with the sowing machine sound, I's reminiscent of a car with tappits that need adjusting. I've checked on the forum but can't find a real answer, do the 96B engines need the push rods adjusting as the tappits are hydraulic and should'nt need much attention, does anyone else get noise.

Thank's for the reply's guys, the sowing machine noise I can live with its the dam tinging noise thats driving me mad, I dont recall it doing it before the service, however I was focused on an oil leek at the front of the engine, a broken speedo and peeling chrome on the instrument panel, I'm probably being paranoid. Thank's again.
I've got about 18,500 on mine, and I've had a light noise similar to what your describing for some time now. It could be a little bit of a rocker arm noise, but I've been leaning toward the damn primary. My primary has been noisy as hell since day one, I'm guessing because of the auto tensioner setup. I got to the point I just stopped worrying about it.
My sewing machine got a lot louder too after the cam install.
Before the cams I had a PCIII and did have a spark knock issue for awhile. I only noticed it under a pretty good load, and at high rpm. A little tweaking of the spark advance cured that. Gas is crap these days.
