Default Saddlebag Guards Heritage

I am going to install Saddlebag guards on my 2010 Heritage, what is the secret to getting the saddlebag support bracket bolt off that has the rubber bushing on it in order to install the relocation kit? It is a selflocking nut and I cannot get it to screw off. Thanks

The entire bracket will have to come off for the relocation bracket.. but, to get the bags off the bike in the first place.... Just keep twisting the acorn nut "counter-clock-wise" and it will eventually turn the stud out of the metal bracket. Hence the rubber bushing, acorn nut will more then likely stay with the saddle bag bracket. Once the bags are off the bike, use vice grips to hold the rubber bushing while again turning the acorn nut loose. You should end up with the rubber bushing that has studs sticking out of both sides

Hope this is helpful.

Be prepared there is about a 50% chance the rubber bushing will simply tear in half. The bolt through the isolater is actually two bolts and they are not connected. Then, you just have to replace the isolater if you need it. It is only a $3 part. Problem is they do this ofter so I had a hell of a time finding a replacement. I had to order them which took two week. I was on vacation and found one and only one in Phoenix but called 4 dealers before I found one. It is why I am going to quick disconnect mounting for my saddle bags. PITA to take them off for cleaning etc.

P.S. post some pics of the bike with the guards on. I am thinking of this mod and would like to see how they look.

Would one of you guys do me a favor please... Measure the bottom of the gaurd, What I am looking for is the distance from the mounting bolt, to the actual gaurd around the bag. I would like to add these to the wifes Deluxe, but first I need to insure that they will fit with her Hard bags.

Any help would be appreciated.
