Default Is the dealer lying.....?

I have a 2010 CrossBones, the dealer is telling me I have to have a new computer, and intake just to add an exhaust. I want to go with taVance&Hines system and they are telling me I need to change the computer, and intake system just to change exhaust ? They say I can't run synthetic oil in a 2010 motor. What's up?????

You don't need to change anything if only doing the pipes. Its only when you change up your air intake that you need fuel management (TMax, PCV..etc). What he may be saying is that its a typical first step to add a heavy breather, change up the pipes and then fuel management all at once.

Heard the same thing when I went looking for a quote on pipes. It was very clear he was saying you will ALSO NEED the following... Stopped by service later and asked the same question to make sure since I couldn't believe what parts was telling me. Same story plus the 'download'. Started doing all my own upgrades and maintenance ever since.

I've heard this about the syn oil from Harley service shop also. They say the syn--even HD Syn 3--is too thin and seeps thru the seals. Sounds kind of curious.

+1, spend a little time researching stage 1 upgrades on this and other sites if you choose. You got a great bike. The more you know about your ride the better it will perform and the less $$$$$ you will drop at the stealer. This is the greatest site on the net when it comes to info on HD. If you spend a little time searching the forum you can find out about almost anything about you bike.

Two questions:

What dealer?

Is this your first motorcycle? - I am curious why the dealer feels confident in outright lying and stealing from you.
