Default Frenched In License or Side Mount?

I'm planning on going with a wider tire and a longer "Fatboy Type" rear fender on the bike you see below. I was thinking how I should mount the license/rear brake. Should I have it frenched in or just buy a side mount like the Kuryakyn curved? If I go with a side mount I will only get one that mounts to the swing arm and not the type that the axle goes through. Only because I don't want to give up on my rear axle covers.

I vote frenched in if you can swing it.

I'm on vacation and it's been raining all week so I haven't had a chance to get some good pics yet. I should be able to get some better pics up next week. Here is what I just did to mine!

Now thats a idea too, flush mount. I don't have the confidence in the shops around here to do that.

There is a local guy that is really good with this type of thing. You can't even feel anything when rubbing across the fender.

On your bike do the French plate. Your bike looks sharp and the french plate would set it apart from others with the side plate.

Yes it does look smooth. I've been thinking about it for hours on how they did that. Is that Glass or plexiglass?

Here is an idea of the look I would be aiming for if I had nothing on the rear fender.

I think the way Tony did it is slick. I would assume it is under a lexan plate. It can be routed in and then sanded and polished like glass. I like the LED tail lights too. I think that with the advent of the "super bright" LED's, the old worry about not being seen is gone. Add to that your red bike, the tail light will disappear. Stealth is awesome.

I vote for frenched in. I did the side mount thing for 3 years, and just went back onto the fender. If you ever want bags in the future, the side mount plate won't work.
